Linda 's thoughts:

This women's race revolves around the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth. My sister (who unfortunately was injured and could not run) and I met at the airport in Boston and bused our way to Falmouth, where we then took a taxi to the hotel. The Sea Crest is situated right on the beach and we had a large room with a fireplace, which I loved. We didn't have a rental car, so we ate most of our meals at the hotel restaurant, which was convenient and quite good.

The races start and finish right at the Sea Crest. I had misplaced my headband, so I ended up staying in our room looking for it until the half marathon began. You can't get any more convenient than that.

I enjoyed the course. It was hilly, which is a challenge for me because where I train is flat as a pancake. There wasn't a lot of crowd support, but the scenery was so nice it kept me distracted. It was cool at the start and as the day became warmer I was happy for the shady sections of the course.

Since the race is in the late September off season, I had no idea what to expect as far as the weather is concerned. It was gorgeous! The race finished back at the hotel and after I received a very nice medal, a glass of wine, and a nice box of snacks, Robin and I grabbed some beach chairs and headed to the beach, where we relaxed and enjoyed bloody marys and mimosas, served by a very friendly beach server. He said the weather was unseasonably warm, so we felt very lucky!

I would do this race again in a second! I am a huge fan of the start and finish lines being at the host hotel, and who doesn't need a beach weekend once in a while?
