Janelle McLeod's thoughts:
This is a small, family friendly, stroller friendly, walker friendly race!
I participated in the 5k walk with a group of friends and 1 toddler. Costumes were welcomed and we wore animal-themed onesies for fun. We waited until the pack cleared out and walked behind most of the runners.
I love all races that start in the William Land Park area because the scenery is beautiful; you walk through old paved park paths and streets with huge trees providing shade, quaint homes and very quiet neighborhoods. Most residents come outside to cheer on the racers in their front yards.
The race finished near the back of the zoo and participants were then allowed to enter the zoo for free before the public to explore and see the animals; an added perk!
