2016 – Tulsa Run Race Review:

First of all I love the Tulsa Run I’ve been running this race since 2005, it is great for the community and always fun!

I would also like to reiterate, while I know the race is popular and receives regional attention and participation, I enjoyed the race more when it was managed locally and I could go by the office and sign-up instead of doing everything over the internet, dealing with local people I know in the community working on the race and it just felt more personal.

Last year I complained about running against the clock with a 10 minute time deficit, the dual clocks helped, but I still feel the 99% of the people running and supporting this race should be the focus, not the 1% of masters or elite and competitive runners, (two-cents.)

Thanks to McAlister’s for their box lunches,, nice touch,, however I didn’t pick one up,, too heavy for me right after running so hard,, A banana, nuts, light fruits, and water is all I need at the end of a run ( I packed my own nuts and orange slices this year).

The engraving of the metals was a nice touch,, Thanks Tulsa Credit Union for Sponsoring.

Additional info:

• Prerace/expo -- packet pickup was good, the biggest hold-up I saw was individual runners trying to pick-up for more than one runner in the individual lines; runners picking up for more than one runner should go to the group lines.
• Course -- the course is a good challenge,, tough hills and some rolling hills, fun 15k
• Finish line – medal (fun touch); snack if you finish after 2 hours you may not have much in the way of post race snack – people I know that finished after 2 hours said there wasn’t much left, except for the box lunches. I’m not sure who sponsors the snack table, some ideas for next year would be to engage SAMs, Quick Trip, Costco, or REASORs and Walmart; Maybe they would be willing to share the burden.

Oh! I liked the Tulsa Run app and being able to track runners - We need more check points on the course for the app.. good idea!

The Tulsa Run is a good challenge and fun family time.
Thanks,
