Unfortunately the Thompson Speedway Half Marathon and 5k is not going on. This was a unique race. You start and end the race on an actual race course (Thompson Speedway). There is a strong possibility of seeing race cars and/or unique exotic sports cars. The half marathon is $60. If you purchase the New England Race Package you get 16 races for $500 (all half marathon in 7 New England states..about $31.30 per race).
The race starts off running on the Thompson Speedway. After this you run an out and back loop. There are some hills, There is some nice scenery. There is 3 water stops (which turns into 6 because of the out and back).
The race director, Michael, and his family are out on the course. When you are crossing the finish line Michael's wife takes your picture. (The pictures are posted and you can upload them for free).
After the race there is lots of food and drinks. For the half every finisher recieves a medal. If you place you get a pint glass. I forgot when you cross the finish line you get a printout of your results.
We are hoping that 3C brings back the Thompson Half Marathon. It was the only half marathon in Connecticut, in December.
