Brenda Morris's thoughts:

Generally held on the last weekend in July every year, its' usually a nice summer sizzler. Approximately 4,000 runners and walkers. The course runs through historic oceanfront Narragansett, ending at the "Towers" where the Blessing of the Fleet Seafood festival is held.

Since this race is on a Friday night at 6:00pm there's generally traffic getting in to the School/Start for Bib/T-shirt pick up. Parking is limited at the school and about a mile from the finish, so you can park on side streets or at the finish. They do have showers at the start if you want to go back afterwards.

This year at around mile 5 we had some rain, thunder and lightning which actually felt great, and only lasted about 10 minutes or so. The support along this race is amazing, even with the crazy short storm. Water stops every mile, oranges, bananas, and ice in zip lock bags ( which I put in my buff) cools me right off! Many residents and vacation homes with music playing and additional fruit, water, beer and other goodies. Actually, so many cook outs and parties along the route, its tempting to go right in to the party :)

I love the fact they have a 10 mile walk which starts at 5pm also. You see many ages, sizes, and levels of runners and walkers out there, some going for a PR others its their longest distance or first walk/run.

At the finish line they have hot dogs, grapes, oranges, bananas and water. If you bring money with you, they have the Festival booths of chowder, lobster and more. Beer tent, live band and more.

One of the best summer races in New England. I would highly recommend this race for all levels.
