David Church's thoughts:

I ran this in 2014 and in 2019 and not much has changed except for the awesome design of the shirts and slight change to the medals. This is a Great Super Bowl Sunday Run that isn't difficult at all. It has a later start compared to other races, 8 am, which is nice so you don't have to change any habits from a normal long run, if you run in the morning. There is a minor hill that starts at mile 2 as you begin a quick wrap around before headed back to PCH. It's a nice, all asphalt race for the half. Prefer it over the full, even though the full has a better view since they end up running on the concrete bike path down by the sand. This years race was one of the few bad weather days in so cal and at the turn around I got rained on for about 20 seconds, but it was just enough to get my clothes wet and heavy. I think the hardest part of this race, is the training schedule begins and runs right through the holidays and when the weather turns colder which makes it difficult to want to get motivated to run, but those are personal things that can be overcome. Parking isn't the greatest for this place as it is by the beach and PCH is closed for the race. But they have free parking where school buses pick you up every 5 minutes or so prior to the race if you park at one of the locations, but it does fill up quick. I'm looking forward to running this race every year moving forward as it is a simple run that isn't challenging outside of the distance you choose. The rest is on you.
