The Spooky Schuylkill 5K took place on Halloween Day 2020 in Landingville, PA, yes a real race in 2020. Costumes optional. The starting line was a socially distanced, rolling start with a mandatory mask rule, masks were allowed to be removed during the race as runners distanced apart. The race was chip timed and allowed runners to start between 8am - 11am. Final results were tallied based upon chip times and winners were determined.

The course was a modified out-and-back, it was more of a T shape. There were people dressed as zombies placed around the course. There were not any water stops along the course, I’m assuming due to COVID restrictions. At the end of the race all participants were emailed a link to check results.

As we move in 2021 and beyond, I’m making an effort to support local races. In the past, I would skip local races and opt for bigger races in nearby cities. With more focus on health in a COVID world, the support of health in local communities is important.
