Adam Fleisher's thoughts:

Scrooge Scramble is a 5k run on Christmas morning. The race benefits a community center and shelter. They accept donations instead of having a dedicated race entry fee. Some people donate food, clothing, or money. I donate at least $20 per family member who runs. Get there early to make sure you can find parking.
The race is through local roads and people come out and cheer you on. There is some elevation, but not that bad.
Pay attention to the weather. It is cold, but there can be snow and ice. (Black ice is another item you need to watch out for).
The race is fun and some people dress up. Be prepared to hear jingle bells all throughout the race.
There are no port-a-potties nor aid station on the course. I still recommend this race. Great time and an even better cause.
