I have created a running website named www.askrunguy.com based on having run over 100 half marathons, including all fifty US states and several other countries; and several full marathons, with a goal of running all six World Major marathons. Below is a template for comments for my rating each race:
Race: San Francisco half marathon 2008 San Francisco, CA
Race Type / Terrain (road, trail): paved roads throughout San Francisco, across Golden Gate Bridge
Organization (Expo, volunteers, start / finish): Expo was nice! Big tent by bayside
Support (fans, music on course): Almost nobody on course. Was a very early start to avoid delays to traffic
Course Scenery: Outstanding scenery – including parks and factories in San Fran bayside over and back across Golden Gate Bridge
Course Difficulty: Way more difficult than I expected. The climb up to the Golden Gate Bridge is quite challenging. So many switchbacks. Running across the bridge was quite windy and intimidating if you look down to the water / ocean.
Weather / Temperature: Was quite cool, damp, foggy on race day
Course location recreation (sights, things to do): Lots of things to do in and around San Francisco. City can be quite unclean with drug user needles, many homeless, human waste on streets, etc.
Logistics (Getting to the race site): easy access via airports
Swag (medal, t-shirt, other items for finishers): Very small medal, but nice t-shirt. One of a few worth wearing after the race.
Food and drink (on course and after finish): Sufficient. Nice water stops.
