This was a good starting race for me. I've done a few 5ks at this point and was ready to kick it up a step. So an 8K was a nice gradual step. This race is on the Saturday before the Philadelphia Half and Full Marathon. You feel the excitement of the weekend during the expo without having to run a full or half. Bib pick up went quickly. The Rothman 8K pick up is separate from the other races.

You get a cotton shirt, some stickers and goodies. The expo had some pretty cool vendors.

The start line for the race was the usual starting by Eakins oval and I walked over from City hall. No problems with getting there on Septa. The route is pretty flat except near the end, there is a bit of an incline to the finish line. Mayor Nutter was there to give out high fives.

A nice scenery along the river with plenty of water stations. Finish line had refreshments and did give out the foil wraps, though it wasn't really necessary. A fun, quick 5 mile run. Though you don't get a medal, they do let you download a finisher's certificate online.
