I ran this race as a part of my quest to run 562 races in 52 weeks for my 52nd birthday.
This race is one of 4 Prairie Dog themed events. There is one each season and someone else has posted a review of the winter (arctic) run in Louisville, CO.
First, I was surprised at the nu,ber of hills in this run. It is not a flat course and if you're looking for a PR it is not a PR course. Buut it was fun and scenic and well-run.... and the finisher's medal is freaking awesome! It's a prairie dog (Peety) and he is adorable!!
I think there was early packet pick-up available but I live 3 hours away so I got my bib and timing chip on race morning. Parking at the venue was plentiful. The race organizers were on site and well-organized. They were communicating via loudspeaker and despite the fact that I left home at 3 a.m. to drive there and run the race, this was an easy outing. Parking was close to the start/finish, vendor tents were set up in the start/ finish area, and after the race, I was able to get to my car and start the drive home within 10 minutes of finishing.
Castle Rock is a great place to run. There are some hills, there are beautiful sights, and the people were awesome. I love the finisher's medal, and at some point I hope to do the Spring, Winter and Fall versions of this race so that I have all 4 finisher medals.
