Kristen Beck's thoughts:

This was my first time running this race. I am new to Los Angeles and was expecting some hills, but these were climbers... and I was not anticipating nearly 1200 feet of it! Leading up to the race, the race management was on top of informative emails, which was helpful (because you get forgetful around the holidays).

Overall, I really enjoyed this race. Total Hollywood vibe with searchlights and a party atmosphere at the start line. It started at 8:00pm, which was different and fun, but they did start 10 minutes late (I assume because they have the 5K & 10K before the Half and were maybe waiting for some back-of-the-packers to finish up). Side note: they also have the option of doing the "Doubleheader Challenge," where you can run two of the races and get an extra hoodie (and maybe medal?).

Running up and around Dodger Stadium didn't excite me until I noticed you get to run in and around the stadium and watch yourself on the big screen! Also, I dreaded the run up the hill to Elysian Park, but the view made it worth it. The whole course was well-lit and well-stocked with aid stations and support. I love the long sleeve, half-zip that the half marathoners got and there was plenty of post race food (and beer)!
