Jackey Deschamps 's thoughts:

I was looking for a fall race and this one was very close to home. So my cousin and I decided to sign up for the Mighty Niagara Half in 2017.
The expo for this race wasn’t really an expo. We went to a gym to pick up bibs. I didn’t notice anything for sale. And I don’t recall ever wearing the race shirt since so must not have been that great.
Regardless it was simple and easy with is always a plus.
The morning of race we got there very early as we tend to do. Parking was easy for us. I’ve heard others had it tougher. Which is why I always get there early. There was music playing and runners just hung out a bit prior.
The race began and we made our way through the village of Lewiston. This part was really fun. I love seeing people outside cheering.
We made our way onto the road and they had some course entertainment along the way which was great! Mile markers were visible. As the race progressed it got quite hot. Looking back I probably should’ve carried my own water but there was enough stops the heat was just getting to me. We ran through Fort Niagara which had some beautiful views. But the last 3 miles were hot and boring. Just made it a bit tough at the home stretch. They had a party at the finish but I wanted to wait for my cousin to cross and see her finish.
My only real complain was by the time the back of the packers were crossing most of the after party was wrapping up. So they didn’t get to enjoy the music, and celebration. That is a pet peeve of mine at races.
The medal is beautiful. Note: if your not from this area you won’t actually see Niagara Falls on this course. It’s still beautiful and the falls are a close drive.
This race is for a great cause. That is also a huge plus. Hospice Niagara.
I do recommend this race though. It would make for a great little destination race weekend. I did do a recap video if you wanted to check out
