Kelly Tyler's thoughts:

This race was my second half marathon.

The race expo was easy to access, and bib pickup was quick and easy. The race shirt was a long sleeve hooded cotton shirt. I liked it, but it was not a shirt I would wear while running. they also gave away a nice drawstring backpack, which was heavier and had a zipper and water bottle compartment.

It was a cold and rainy morning at the start, and there was no real corral system, just pace signs that the runners were left to gather around, so they could potentially be running with people at the same pace.

The course went though the streets of long island, as a long island native it was a cool experience. It was an easy course without any major inclines. The people that were trying to spectate had a hard time finding us at different points on the course, as traffic in the area gets very backed up.

The volunteers we encountered throughout the race course were friendly, and always ready to hand you a cup of water.

The race eventually winds into esienhour park and to the finish line, where there was a finish line festival. We were given waters and a big bag of snacks that included fruit and bagels. We did not stay for the festival, since it was raining at the finish. It was a bit of a hike back to the car, as parking in the park was limited.
