I do this race every year and I never hesitate to sign up for it. It's easy to find parking and pick up your packet on race day. This year there were no goodie bags, but that's okay, I rather that than a bag filled with crap that I usually throw away.
It was hard to hear the announcers when they were calling the racers to the start and when they were starting. I believe this is always an issue because you have the announcer and the Irish band going at the same time.
The course is easy to run, but this year I felt like I had more near collisions with faster runners coming back who were trying to pass people. Nothing the race management can do since it's a narrow path and a lot of non runners do this race. Because of this I think I might stick with the 4k for the next time I do this race.
Once I got to the finish they were handing out medals, which was the first year they have done that. the medals and the shirts are amazing!. They gave you a Hersey kiss, which you usually got a large one in years past, but because of the medal the small one was fine. I noticed that they had kiddie pools filled with ice for post race drinks, but they were empty when I finished and no one seem to be refilling them up. I'm not sure if non runners had helped themselves to the water, but it was a little annoying no to have water and/or gatorade when you finished.
The food was amazing as always. Pretzels, chips, popcorn, min bundt cakes, kind bars and power bar wafers.
It love this race and will keep doing it again.
