Adam Fleisher's thoughts:

If you are looking for a challenging 10 mile road race in the dead of winter (to prepare you for half marathon season) this is the race for you. The name of the race tells you what you are in for.
You start the race at a local elementary school, make a left and hit your first incline. After this there are some fast downhills. Don't let this fool you. Around 1.8 miles in you are climbing hills. And when you think it's going to stop you are wrong.
The kicker comes around mile 4. You have a half mile of steep incline (you will be cursing this hill). But once you hit the top you have an incredible view (have your camera ready).
There is one problem that might occur. Since you are running , in the Northeast during winter, the weather could be nasty (Deveral years ago we ran this race in -13 degrees and there was a horrific headwind. We could barely keep our eyes opened. Our tears were freezing.)
Running down the hill is fun. You end up running into a senic valley around orchards. Around mile 6 you are hitting the hills again.
You are now in a senic residential area. In about another mile you are running up a smaller hill. You run through some more hilly residential areas. Once you get out of this area you have one more major hilly road to run.
In 2018 it was foggy so you could not see the hills in front of you. There are multiple hills then you hit the area where you started.
You have one final incline to conquer. After this it's all downhill and back to the elementary school.
All participants receive a long sleeve tech shirt and finisher's medal. There is a nice post race buffet (lots of foods to choose from), awards for the top male and female finishers, music, and good times discussing the over 1000 feet of elevation you conquered.
As for aid stations, there are 2. One at mile 4.5. The top of brutal hill. And the other is around mile 8.
What is cool about this race is you can run it by yourself or as part of a team.
I have taken part in this race for the past 4 years. It is put on by the Glastonbury River Runners. They are a local running club. The race is limited to 150 people. It is a small race that will challenge you.
