I had plans to go to the Voodoo Music Festival with friends during this weekend. I also knew my training schedule wanted me to run 16 miles. The only way to get myself to actually run this weekend was to sign up for a race. Thank goodness, this was the perfect one. We stayed at the Canal Street Marriott (only a 12 minute walk to the start line). The course scenery was beautiful. We ran all the way down St. Charles to Tulane University. I was just getting over a stress fracture and there was plenty of grass I could run on along to course to lessen my strike impact. After the race, there were a TON of options for free post race fuel. I grabbed a beer from the Abita Brewing Company cart - their lager. I would have grabbed the jambalaya but G bought some beignets to have ready for me at the finish line.
