I was in town to support a friend who was running the marathon so we decided to run this 5k the day before. It was a fun event for me and a good warmup for her.
We registered early and were able to get our flag on our bib. From the start, communication was very good. We got regular updates from organizers and always understood what to expect.
We picked up our bibs at the marathon expo and the expo was fantastic! It was filled with many booths, great race merchandise and a wide variety of exhibitors/vendors.
The start location was right in the heart of downtown and easily accessible. We arrived just on time only to find out that there was a fifteen minute delay due to weather. The organizers were quick to respond and get things in track.
The course was extremely flat, but also extremely scenic. This is a race when you want to keep your head up because there is just SO much to see.
We wound through city streets until we ended in Grant Park.
The finish line was really well organized and pushed everyone through so that there was no hold up to get to the water stations.
After all the food and drink lineups, we were surprised to get a nice hat to commemorate the race.
All in all, a fun race, well organized and great sightseeing!
