Dudley 's thoughts:

Expo and packet pick-up
: This is a smaller race and there is no real expo. Packet pick-up is held at EC Glass High School and is basically an in and out thing! It is however extremely easy to pick up your packet, good parking and you won't be fighting the crowds too much.

Accommodations and travel: Lynchburg is my home town so I stay with my parents, but it's a very reasonable city when it comes to hotels and with the race being downtown, there are so many fun hotels to choose from! I LOVE the Craddock Terry, it's a boutique hotel and just absolutely gorgeous! This race is also held over Thanksgiving (obviously, a Turkey Trot) so make sure to plan ahead as the hotel scene can fill up fast.

Course: The course was changed last year to accommodate the renovations and roadwork being done in downtown Lynchburg. This past year it took much of the same course as the Lynchburg 10 Miler and was a down and back starting at EC Glass and looping around to Memorial Ave, through the Plaza and then back up Farm Basket Hill to end. There are several hills (they don't call it the Hill City for nothing) but as a 5K it isn't too terrible with elevation! The scenery isn't anything to write home about (mainly city streets and shopping centers).

ease of the start line:

Swag: I LOVE the swag at this race! Every year they always have awesome long sleeve shirts and great medals... definitely a plus for a race in a smaller city and I wear my shirt ALL the time (they're a cotton blend so easier to wear around than a technical shirt),

Post-race party: The post-race party is pretty fun! It's set up outside of EC Glass High School and includes fun games for the kids, booths, and some post race food! It's not something huge like with a marathon or half, but it is a nice way to relax post-race (weather permitting, sometimes it can be downright chilly for this race!)

All in all this is an awesome race if you're already in the Lynchburg area and a really fun way to get outside and burn a few calories prior to feasting later in the day on Thanksgiving!
