Meghan Wolfenden's thoughts:

Let me first say that race management was awesome. They kept us in the loop with weather updates, and gave us options to switch distances due to the severe heat wave that came through Chicago that weekend. Thankfully the heat cooled off, however humidity remained at 90%. Race expo was well-organized. Race day had plenty of porta potties. We got to the race corrals about 20 minutes before start time and had no problem accessing it.

There is something special about running in the streets of Chicago. It never gets old -- the sites, the skyscrapers, the bridges, etc. I very much enjoyed the course. The streets were not packed with spectators, but there were enough there to feel supported and encouraged along the way. Compared to Nashville RNR, the on course entertainment was slim -- I was glad I decided to wear my headphones.

The aid stations were plentiful, which I was very thankful for. My least favorite part of the race was running under the McCormick Place tunnel. It was dark and damp, but I guess it just added to the adventure of the race. The medals were good quality. I was disappointed at the lack of chocolate milk after the race.

All in all, it was a great run. This race is a beautiful half marathon show-casing the city of Chicago. I would recommend to anyone!
