Lyndsey 's thoughts:
In the '90s I would cheer my dad as he raced this 10-mile course. I never thought I'd be a runner, but I'm glad I turned out to be one.
This was the 34th running of the Hancock Canal Run - a point-to-point race that begins at McLain State Park and runs along the beautiful Portage Canal to downtown Hancock.
My dad and friend Emily ran with me the first 8 miles (until I was too hot to keep up with them - keep in mind I was a newbie!).
The last 2 miles are gradually up-hill, which can tucker you out! A small-town race with a lot of character.
There is also a 5 mile run and walk and a 10 mile walk portion of this race. My mom won the overall-walk in 2009 and the awards are homemade items from local artists.
