John 's thoughts:
The word "Mountain" is in the race's name, so if you're expecting anything easy -- forget it.
This is a killer race, up Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. The race starts and finishes with laps around a track, and I'm pretty sure that those are the only two flat sections of the course. The route winds up through beautiful scenery before starting the ascent of Grandfather Mountain (one of the highest peaks in the East!).
The aid stations provided everything you'd expect and want, aside from from cyanide tablets!
The race finishes with a lap around a dirt track at the North Carolina Highland Games. So expect a huge party and a warm welcome as you approach the finish line.
An incredibly difficult race, but well worth the effort!
