This year's Geist Half Marathon was a great experience. The race is set in Fishers, Indiana near Geist Reservoir. The course goes out about 3.5 miles and crosses the Geist Reservoir, does about a 6 mile loop, then returns back to the same 3.5 mile stretch that the race started on to finish. The course does offer several rolling hills at the beginning and end that can present a challenge to tired legs. The weather this year was about perfect for race day: cool and overcast with a slight mist at times. Crossing the reservoir on the bridge was a treat due to the mist. It felt as if you were running through the clouds. The pre-race festivities were really nice with numerous booths and stations set up near the start area. Parking was close by at one of three schools less than a mile from the start area, which was really convenient for after the race as well. The post-race festivities were also nice, with a large area still set up with booths offering food and other services. This was my first year doing the race, but I would definitely do it again and recommend it to a friend.
