Bridget Gaug's thoughts:

When I decided to run my first marathon I knew I need to make it one that made my heart sing! And for me, that means Kansas City! I have huge emotional ties to this city. I was excited and nervous to run 26.2 miles for the first time.

- LOVED the long sleeve hooded shirt for the race shirt. I thought the "SHOW ME KC" was such a great tagline
- Lots vendors and stuff to take a look at.
- Easy to get my race bib and find the pacers for the race. Didn't get the chance to talk to them very much but that was on me.

Race Day:
- Finding parking was pretty easy since there are many garages in the city and a new light rail that brings you right to the start line.
- It was hotter than normal for an October race (about 70 degrees and humid)
- Tons of porta-potties to make sure you are ready.
- The race started with fireworks right by the "Western Auto" sign which is a classic KC spot.

- Many people think KC is flat and boring and this race was anything but that. Anyone KC native knows "Hosptial Hill" and that was the first big hill.
- The crowds were great and we ran past so many landmarks, from giant shuttlecocks to the plaza, Ward Parkway and by 18 and Vine (the Jazz district).
- There were PLENTY of hills to keep you from getting bored.
- The last .2 miles was UP A SMALL HILL (who does that)

Overall this race is for a true Kansas City fan at heart. If you love this city (as much as I do) you will do this race and you will come back and do this race again
