vicki mckinney's thoughts:
The Galveston Half Marathon is a smallish race in a small beach town. I ran the half marathon which is 1 loop of the full marathon course (the marathon course is 2 loops). The course is flat (except for 1 minor hill) and runs along the beach area (no on sand) and the seawall. There was no bag drop, as you parked very close to the race start. There were REAL bathrooms (and port-a-cans too) at the start/finish. For SWAG we received a long sleeved tech shirt and a tech hat. The aide stations were well stocked and the volunteers enthusiastic. On this race (as with most races in Galveston), there is minimal crowd support/spectators. Post race party was fun, with the normal post race goodies - plus pizza and beer.
