I love this race because of the challenge. The hills are big (for Sacramento) and are fun to climb. I love how the race always starts with the kids run with a Giant Chicken leading the way. It's so wonderful to see little folks run their hearts out.

This course starts Old Fair Oaks. You make your way through the neighborhood of Old Fair Oaks and then through some of the nearby trails. (You don't really need trail shoes for the race though - most of the path is on road). The hills make this race a unique one in Sacramento and it's absolutely fun to run. The race finishes where it starts with a great after party.

A unique feature of this race is the chickens that roam the streets! And there are plenty of them making their way around Old Fair Oaks.
