Kim Maves's thoughts:

What I enjoyed-
-Packet Pick up is at Miller Park, it is super easy to get to or you can pick up your packet race morning
-SWAG is a nice long sleeve cotton shirt and a Brewers Bobble head
-Bibs were labeled by colors one for: Runners, Walkers, Run with Stroller, Walk with Stroller. Also there was a Kids 12 & under bib. This was MUCH improved over last year.
-Miller Park is left open so one can hang out and use warm bathrooms with running hot water and soap.
-Feeding America collected food there as well. Feeding America partnered with Sendik's and Sendik's donated gift cards and pies to people who won with their tickets. (one ticket per canned good) I love seeing how well the running community comes together to donate food.
-Self seed, but this year they marked off the paces. Under 6, 6-7 mi/mile, 7-8 etc. Then they went to walkers, Run with stroller and walk with Stroller. SO much better than last year where people with strollers and walkers were lining up in the front which is not safe.
-Course had a GIANT hill (for this Chicago flatlander) at the beginning and other small hills and hairpin turns. I was pretty happy to PR even with this hill!
-Course was well taken care of with ice melt and people standing along corners to make sure people stayed safe.
-One aid station (that's all that's really necessary for a 5K)
-Miles were marked. (my watch was off I believe) The 1st mile marker was missing but there was a nice guy who was shouting out that we were at one mile.
-This is one of my favorite races.
-Water, cookies and banana after the race. Nothing spectacular, but they were all perfect.
-First 10 people to beat the Turkey win a prize, the next 10 get a smaller prize.

There wasn't anything I disliked.

Other Thoughts:
-No age group awards, It's a smaller race. Only top 3 male and female get trophies.
-I don't think there was anyone taking pictures, I don't really buy pictures so this could be good or bad depending on the person.
-Some people might complain about no free beer at the end, but not me.
-No gear check, but my mom comes with and carries my jacket. The parking lot is adjacent to the race start so it's not hard to keep everything in your car.
-Other races Vision puts on where at packet pick up. All with discount codes. PRO and Feeding America were also there. Feeding America was collecting food at packet pick up.
-Vision always puts on great events, they are partnered with Performance Running Outfitters here in Milwaukee. A fantastic local running store.

I'll be back next Thanksgiving!!
