Brian 's thoughts:

The Davis Stampede of 2014 will always be remembered as the wettest race I have done. The rain held off until about 5 minutes before the race, then the heavens opened up. There was a torrential downpour for the entire race and some wind as well. There were areas of pooling water that you had to run around or through (not like my feet could have been more wet).

The race starts downtown at a local park where all of the vendor booths are setup under a large covered area. There are plenty of port-o-potties (I didn't have to wait at all). The lines to pick up the race packets on race day were minimal as well.

The race starts out in the city and winds through neighborhoods, parks (on paved bike paths), and back into the city. There were a few very small hills, mainly going under roads in bike path tunnels. The largest hill is the pedestrian over crossing that goes over Interstate 80.

Going through the parks and neighborhoods is nice because you have plenty of families and small kids who cheer you on. There was about a 2 mile gravel walking path, but even with the rain, it wasn't muddy.

The medal and shirt look great and were definitely earned.
