Brian 's thoughts:

This is the second year I ran the Davis Stampede. The race starts downtown at a local park where all of the vendor booths are setup under a large covered area. There are plenty of port-o-potties (I didn't have to wait more than about 3 minutes. The lines to pick up the race packets on race day were minimal as well.

The race starts out in the city and winds through neighborhoods, parks (on paved bike paths), and back into the city. There were a few very small hills, mainly going under roads in bike path tunnels. The largest hill is the pedestrian overcrossing that goes over Interstate 80.

Going through the parks and neighborhoods is nice becuase you have plenty of families and small kids who cheer you on.

This year the weather was perfect, high 40s to low 50s, but last year was really wet and windy. My only complaint is that there was a 2 mile stretch that was on a gravel walking path. There were some larger pieces of gravel that made it difficult to keep my footing and my friend bruised his heel on one. Other than that, it is a great race.
