Jennifer 's thoughts:

This was a 5k run/walk that took place during a town celebration. It was a manual entry where you mailed a check to the person in charge. You had to find the check-in point in a post on a Facebook page. For a $15 registration fee, you received a cotton t-shirt and a small medal. It was not a chipped race. According to my Garmin, the course was a little shy of a 5k.

Course: the course was well marked and took us all around town. Since the town is small, we went out to the cemetery, ran around part of it and back into town, so part of the course was the same. There weren't many people out and about and there weren't any aid stations. A Gator stayed in front of the leader and a fire truck brought up the tail end.

Parking: Parking was super easy as you could pull almost right up to the start/finish line. It was free and on the grass in the city park.

This was my very first 5k, so I think it was a great place for me to start. This is my hometown and many people were back for the celebration.
