I drove down to this race from DC the day before the race. The expo was extremely underwhelming not very many vendors at all.

We stayed right by the starting line and the first 5 miles of the race were scenic running by the old southern houses and the water then the race went into and industrial area. It was very flat and very desolate not many spectators at all. The finish line festival seemed a more lively than the expo but I was pretty chilly (not very warm even though you are in the "south") and had endured 8 boring miles.

Charleston itself was pretty cool not as awesome as people make it seem. I would recommend checking Edmond's Oast for good beer in a good atmosphere and checking out some to the restaurants downtown.

I plan on looking for a different South Carolina race for my 50 states 50 marathons goal.
