I had an incredible experience at the Buffalo Half Marathon. I'm originally from Buffalo so I was looking forward to this race. From the very beginning, the Buffalo Marathon organizers had excellent communication in the months leading up to the race. There was even a note about potential weather concerns that Sunday, but we lucked out and had wonderful weather for the half marathon - starting in the low 50's and not a drop of rain!

The Expo was really nice and bib pickup was easy. There were plenty of vendors and official merchandise to buy, and everything looked great! There was a pasta party for Saturday night but unfortunately, I didn't get to participate.

The half and full marathon started together at 6:30 am, with fireworks, and we headed North on Delaware - the course was great, not too crowded and had plenty of shade for the most part. There was a nice amount of spectators along the way with sprinklers, orange slices, and plenty of high-five's The only crowded area was along the Marina when there were some out-and-back's between miles 10 and 12 that were a little tight. There are some inclines so don't think that the race is completely flat!

I was very fortunate to have a PR at this race - my hometown does SUCH a great job organizing the race! The post-race party included free craft beer and PIZZA - the best combination ever! There were also free massages after the race that I didn't get to enjoy, unfortunately. But great medal, great swag, great time overall!
