The Missoula Marathon is always a crowd favorite, consistently landing in one of the top spots on The BibRave 100, so it was no surprise to see them high on the list of the races for both the Best Marathon and Best Half Marathon of the Decade.
Nominations and votes poured in for the race, with runners routinely citing community support as one of the standout aspects. “There were homegrown aid stations, sprinklers, signs, and the world's biggest cowbell (or darn near close). Oh, a guy playing a grand piano in his yard AND a bagpiper. Add in the gorgeous scenery and the many things to do around Missoula and this makes for one of the best race-cations I have ever taken. Bonus - the people in this town are so freakin' friendly!”
“Running this race inspires you to run better. Heck... it inspires you to be a better person.”
In addition to the community support, the Missoula Marathon offers a beautiful course with 360-degree panoramic views of the mountains, and a fast finish downtown. The Missoula Marathon weekend also includes fun events such as a Beer Mile, a Kids Marathon, and a pre-race 5K. So, of course the whole weekend also landed a Top 5 spot in our Best Race-cation category.
We were deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Missoula Marathon’s Race Director, Tony Banovich. Tony was a friend to all at BibRave and always a huge supporter of “Benjamin” and The BibRave 100. Tony will be greatly missed and while we’re thrilled that the race he loved so dearly once again topped The BibRave 100, we’re only sorry that he’s not here to accept the award.
