Erica Brown's thoughts:

I arrived on Friday afternoon and went straight to the expo at the Wright State Nutter Center. Parking was kind of confusing due to the fact they had a lot of areas blocked off for the 5k race later that evening. Picking up my bib was easy enough, not much of a line. The expo was really small compared to some of the other races I have been to. After picking up my bib I went to pick up my Tshirt and bag, apparently they had problems with the company that printed the tshirts so the orange blue tech shirts we were told we would get ended up being all blue and very thin. The people that ordered long sleeve shirts apparently were disappointed also because they were about 3 sizes smaller than what they ordered. The swag bag left a lot to be desired also there was a hat, a patch, and a sample of biofreeze. I may have been disappointed due to the fact my last half marathon was the Flying Pig Half Marathon which goes way over the top with their swag bag and expo.
Race morning parking was a mess, we had to park over a mile away from the start line and a couple with a handicap child, and legal handicapped sign had to park beside us because the race said they needed to have a special handicap sign in order to park close. The actual race course was beautiful. We ran around parts of the base and the volunteers at the water and gel stations were awesome cheering us on and they had plenty of drinks for everyone. It was also awesome to see the military community heavily present between a the ones running the race and the ones blocking the roads. I would have to say the best part of the race was running under the wing of a plane right before the finish line and a service member placing the medal around your neck after crossing the finish line.
I didn't get to stick around for the after party due to the fact the people that came with me had things to do later that day, but it looked like it would have been a blast. They also didn't have the fly over this year I think because of budget cuts, but from what I hear when they did have that it was awesome. I hope they will be able to bring the fly over back, I would have liked to have seen that. Over all this was a decent race, I would recommend running this race at least once. And believe me what the shirts were lacking the medal you receive more than makes up for it. One of the best medals I have.
