Maggie 's thoughts:

This was my first half marathon. I was terrified and had no idea what to expect, but for a first timer, nothing could have been better.

The course loops through Batavia and Geneva and goes through neighborhoods and onto the Fox River Trail. The course was well marked and had a few small hills, but overall it was not challenging. It was really exciting to see the people whom lived on the course come out and cheer runners on. Some spectators even created their own on-course entertainment for runners. My favorite was a family band that brought their instruments onto their driveway to play for passing runners.

The participant pool was small, but nothing about the event felt sub par. Everything was well organized and stress free. Parking was accessible and free, packet pick-up was a piece of cake, and I felt informed from race management.

When I completed this race in 2010 the race shirt and medal weren't the best, but everything I've seen since then from this organizer seems to have improved.

Overall, I would suggest running this race if you are looking for something out of the city and low key.
