David 's thoughts:

This race is marketed as the biggest race in South America, with around 45,000 runners taking part in the half-marathon and 10k, with both starting and ending at the city's Parque Simon Bolivar.

The course goes through different parts of the city, and whilst it isn’t the most picturesque route in Colombia by any means, the course is lined by enthusiastic supporters and the atmosphere at the start and end is a lot of fun – Colombians have a real enthusiasm for warm-ups and cool-offs in a way that’s quite different to running in the UK, for example, which definitely adds to the overall experience. By being one of the relatively few obviously non-Colombian runners, I’ve made friends in the last kilometres and on finishing both times I’ve run the race.

The weather in Bogotá tends to be perfect for running and it’s been nice both times I’ve run the race – like a European April, perhaps – which isn’t perhaps what you might think about running in Colombia, as Bogotá pretty much has its own weather system. The altitude does make a difference, so it’s worth being in the city a couple of days beforehand to acclimatise - and visit some of the local sites, and get your carb-fill in the city’s superb restaurants!

The race doesn’t stack up particularly well on the star-ratings shown above, but is a fun day out, and I’ll run it again when I can – keen to try to get closer to 1:30 for the half than I’ve managed so far..
