The race directors for this event do a great job of bringing in high-level athletes to make this an exciting race to watch and run! From first timers to marathon veterans, this race gives you everything you can find at the huge marathons without all the hassle. With a 5k on Friday and a half marathon on Saturday starting right before the full marathon, you can make it a weekend for the whole family!
Awesome medals and t-shirts for all finishers, and all the food and drink you want in the post-race area. Aid stations are great, with lots of energetic volunteers cheering you on.
Beautiful flat course along Lake Superior! The downside of this: you are running point to point and you catch glimpses of the lift bridge at the finish line from about 15 miles out, which can be a little demoralizing.
The expo is very well run! Super easy to get your packet, tons of vendors, but parking can be difficult if you go Friday evening during the 5k.
Getting to the start race morning is taken care of: you just have to hop on a bus and they take it from there. Buses leave Duluth from multiple locations so no matter where you stay, there is somewhere fairly close to catch the bus.
Great energy behind this race! The entire city of Duluth is involved in this race and the whole weekend is a blast.
