Let me start by saying that I have run over 15 Half Marathons in the Rock N Roll series in the past 2 years and this is one that I will continue to run every year.

I really enjoyed myself at the Expo this year. Brooks Run Happy Island was especially fun with games and prizes including a bucking shoe ride! They also offered a running analysis. My favorite vendors were there as usually and I was able to pick up some needed items. This series has one of the larger Race Expos. We were also able to pick up our pre-paid parking pass during the Expo which made race morning less stressful.

When we arrived there race morning, we enjoyed walking around taking pictures. Weather was perfect in Seattle on this race day. Race started promptly at 7:00 a.m. It was extremely crowded but there was room for all. Rock n Roll races are usually pretty full but are well run enough to handle all the runners. The course offered just the right amount of uphill and downhill to make it fun! Not too steep and not too many but more fun than flat road.

The most beautiful and memorable part of the course for me was definitely running alongside the Washington Lake and the Fallen Soldier Tribute. The course here is lined with pictures of some of our brave soldiers who sacrificed everything. Volunteers held up huge American flags while they cheered us on. Very beautiful and moving portion of this course.

The next most picturesque portion of the course, in my opinion, was coming up on Seattle's Great Wheel at Pier 57 on Elliott Bay. Seeing the wheel with the bay background was just beautiful and it meant we were getting close to the end of the race as well!! I was enjoying the course but by this time I was tired! Just before the finish we got to run through the Battery St Tunnel which seemed to last forever but it was fun! I ended up with my 2014 PR this race which may have also added to my excitement and enjoyment!

Post race bling was pretty cool. Finisher's medal was really cute coffee cup design. Since I also had run the RnR Portland Half Marathon in May, I also received the Pacific Peaks medal. And, this being my 5th RnR of 2014, I received Heavy Medal number 5 - The Rock Star. So I ended up with 3 very nice looking rewards for the finish!

After the race, we went over to Pikes Place Market which was a fun place to visit. Seattle is a great place to run, it's beautiful, weather's great, and many nice places to enjoy post race celebrations.
