Last year I competed and deliberately joined a group determined to finish as the Lanternes Rouges. With 1300 runners ahead of us, the field, the sheep dip and the mud were in a delightful state, perfect for the non-stop hysterics we signed up for. If you're serious or not so serious runner this is the run for you. More at www.facebook,com/sodburyslog and Twitter @sodburyslog

I participated in the inaugural race on Sunday the 25th and feel immensely privileged to have done so. The race started on the "old" Severn Bridge with a run down the M48 motorway into England, then a few miles of beautiful countryside with some nice but tough hills followed by a return over the bridge back into Wales. A truly exceptional experience that I hope becomes a permanent fixture in our race calendar.

This is a superb 10k trail race over the beautiful Dorset hills. The course is challenging with a steep hill about 1 half mile after the start but suitable for runners of all levels. Really well organised, great catering (stay for the post race hog roast) and a tremendous atmosphere. The tech T shirt and medal for finishers are outstanding and will provide a real talking point. Highly recommended.
PS: that's 10k in Dorset miles, just over 11k everywhere else.
