This year was one of the best weekends for the Chicago Marathon. The locals know that you never know what kind of weather you can get in early October. In past years it has either been too hot or too cold. But this year it was perfect!! It started out in the low 50s at the start warming up to the low 60s. What more can you ask for!!?!!!!

The T-shirt this year was bright yellow. I love the bright color. It gives lots of personality to runners. It is also great for safety so bikers can spot you and won't run you over when you run outside!!

The aid stations were great!! The stations were very long and there was plenty of time to grab Gatorade or water. There were also many aide stations. I felt like there were plenty of chances for hydration.

The scenery was exceptional. Being from Chicago I am very familiar with the neighborhoods. And there were plenty of places that you felt the culture. I loved everything from the dancing drag queens in Boystown to the smell of fresh tortillas in Pilsen. Not to mention that every inch of the marathon course if full of spectators. So you never feel alone! This is great to give you that extra adrenaline boost!!

The expo was over the top. So many vendors and so much to buy!! A shopper's dream!!!

The elevation is basically flat. Bring from Chicago I was surprised at the slight elevation in some areas (around mile 6 near Lincoln Park Zoo and around mile 20 right before Chinatown). Not to mention Mount Roosevelt at mile 26 near the finish. Otherwise there is nothing to worry about with elevation.

Parking is no issue. Many parking garages around the area. Have to get there early enough to beat the road closures though.

Overall, I love this race!! It is my home and it was very well managed. There were many officers around the area with bomb sniffing dogs at the start line, along the course and at the finish line. Great job Chicago and I'll see you at next years race!!

I've ran this race the last 5 years and I love it because it gets me up and running in the winter season.

The shirts this year were ehh cuz it was plain ol white. I love the green from years ago.

As for the course I try to get my PR every year and It's getting difficult to do that because it is very crowded. There were 3 times where I had to slow down because of the narrowness of the course. I was in the B corral and think if you want a PR you need to start at the front of the line or be in the A corral.

Despite the race being crowded I would still run again next year because I love to see all the runners and there are so many spectators.

This is more of a fun race than a PR race. So don't get your hopes up for a fast time.
