One of the few smaller more intimate races that I've done. Only a few hundred did the Half. I knew it would be hillier than what I'm used to in Chicago and I was also trying for a significant PR (7:47 race pace with a previous PR of 8:31 pace).

I fell into a good rhythm and enjoyed the peacefulness of not having to constantly dodge the packs (standard for all the halfs in Chicago). The lakepath was also nice and the volunteers were great at all the stations to get me water or gatorade. I sprinted towards the finish and ended up finishing 3rd in my AG with a 1:39 (7:33 pace!).

The spread post-race was also great - volunteers offering baked goods, sandwiches, and snacks. I would definitely do this one again!

In 2012 RnR Chicago started hitting it's stride. Amazing expo, amazing post-race snacks and treats!

Course continues to improve, better route through the city. Beware it ends with a hill ramp up by Soldier Field to the finish so just be mentally prepare!

Free Parking! This is UNHEARD of in Chicago. Also, it's a Saturday race so you have the entire holiday weekend. Great and cute shirt. What could be better!

I do this every year. Great way to start out the Summer racing season with a longer distance

2011 showed some big improvements once RnR got bought out by competitor. Started feeling more like a big race - worth the $$ you were spending.

Course + aid stations got better.

Still need to get gender specific shirts please! I virtually give mine to my husband or throw it away. I want something I can wear on the path!

Wowzers. For those that don't know, trail does NOT mean pretty. Trail means extreme support! This was a GORGEOUS race but I was way underprepared for the challenge. It was a race unlike any other. Loved the small race/intimate setting. You could drive right up to the start.

GREAT post-race food support as well. Just wanted a gender-specific shirt and back in 2010 the shirt was cotton (no dri-fit). We did get a cool visor though!

Racers and volunteers were all great. I would LOVE to go back and do this.
