Disney sets minimum pace limits and they're serious about them. At select points along the half marathon route anyone behind the trail pacer is directed off the course, put on a bus and taken to the race recovery area. There is no opting out. No moving off the road or path. And no two course challenge medal. No if, ands, or buts about it. So if you aren't sure if you can maintain the minimum pace and don't want to get swept off the course don't enter this race.
I was one of the unlucky ones to get swept off the course and it ruined the whole experience for me. And it wasn't so much getting swept but how they did it and how they treated you at the end. They run across the course with a rope to block the route and announce that "your race is over". They then direct you to a bus where they tell you that you will not be allowed to cross the finish line and will be dropped off outside of the race recovery area and will not receive your two course challenge medal. Period...end of story. (Even worse was that it wasn't a lack of keeping up with the pace, it was just 1 too may character stops plus the narrow areas in the parks where you can't pass people. ) Very business like. I guess I understand not being allowed to cross the finish line. Wouldn't want to cheat on the finish time. But it would seem that they could come up with some way to allow people to cross the line but still record a DNF. Crossing the line is part of the experience that you pay $300 plus dollars for. I get that it is a race but it's also entertainment. And it's Disney and I didn't think it was intended to be a serious race. Also, the bit about not getting the two course challenge medal. Again you pay handsomely to be in the race. What harm does it do to give you basically what you paid for? They give you a finishers medal even though you don't finish but they keep the two course challenge medal.
To make matters worse, Disney promotes this as a fun race, places characters and photo ops all along the course, but if you aren't able to maintain significantly better than the minimum pace while running, don't stop for photo ops. You will be swept. And while not a factor for me, if it's a serious race with serious timing, the course is very narrow and difficult to maneuver in many places. It's not a good course for those concerned about a quick finish time.
Not a good experience for me. No Disney magic. If you think you can't maintain the minimum pace beware. If you expect for Disney to do their best to make it a pleasant experience no matter how you get to the end of the race, you may be disappointed.

The expo was OK, but expect to stand in long lines to pick up your bib and t-shirts. They even have serpentines set up. I guess there's no way around that given the number of participants. The Disney shopping part of the expo is an......experience..... I equate it to "Black Friday"....

As much as running 26.5 miles can be fun, this was a really fun race. Tons of course support. The neighborhoods really turned out to support the runners and if running and getting sloshed at the same time is your thing, this is the race for you. One thing to note. The race is very hilly. I thought Oklahoma was supposed to be flat? Wind comes sweeping down the plain...flat. Nope.

Took the detour to the center of the universe to complete the worlds shortest ultra. Totally worth it.

Post race support was great. Expo was great too...(even though we flew in from Columbus, OH for the race we volunteered at the expo....making it the best expo ever in our opinion!). Even got a special volunteer coin which was pretty sweet.

Would do it again if it was closer. Maybe not the full. I was pretty envious of those heading off to the half finish line at the split while realizing I was only half way done!

If you're looking for a fun race. This is one to consider.
