So, I guess I am the odd duck here that actually enjoyed this race. It was my first ever Turkey Trot and I ran the 4.4 mile (other option was 2.5) race. I went expected to have issues getting from my car to the race, however the shuttle was great and there was plenty of parking at the lot I went to. I parked at 9am-ish and got to the race (which started at 10) with more than 20 minutes to spare, and I had to wait for a shuttle. I wasn't a fan of starting on an up-hill, but whatever. The race has so many in attendance that they actually have pace markers at the start line, not that many people followed them. Plenty of restroom facilities at the park, but none on the route which seemed odd for the distance. Yes, there is a park that bottle necks right before the last 200 meters that you are pretty much forced to walk, but so what? Enjoy the run. This is probably not a course for your PR.

My 2 biggest issues with the race were that there were no water stations anywhere except the very end AFTER climbing up the hill to the tent and after you got your snacks, then there was water. Second, the shuttle situation leaving. I didn't want to hang around. However, I ended up waiting for a shuttle in the rain and snow for longer than I was actually running. Seems like there would have to be a better way to handle this.

All and all, I enjoyed the race and have already signed up for next years too!

This was a fantastic event for the whole family, plus costumes are welcome! The actual race is through a very suburban part of Rochester and there were surprisingly a lot of spectators at the end of their driveways cheering everyone on. The majority of this run is on a steady uphill so, it can be kind of grooling, but at the top (about 2/3 of the way through) there is a nice reservoir and then it is all downhill to the end. Beyond just the 5k, there are 3 levels of races for the kids to partake in too! This was a great time and will definitely be back next year!
