I look forward to R66 in Tulsa every year! The entire weekend is one big celebration, starting with a 5K on Sat, and then the half/full/shortest "ultra" on Sunday. Recommend staying downtown close to the start and finish, so you are easily in walking distance. The busses get full and it takes longer to ride then to walk. This race is very well organized, and many running groups have VIP tents or areas for runners to relax before and after. The Half Fanatic tents were perfect and offered shade, food and fun! If you are part of one of these groups, definitely take advantage! This course starts and ends downtown, and the course winds through residential areas, the river, and back downtown. There are a LOT of hills on this course and the weather in OK can change quickly. One year I was freezing, the next too hot. Plan for anything. One of the best things about this race is the local community and crowd support. There will be people along the course with food, tiki bars, bands playing, and families cheering you on. At the finish, the party continues with music and great food!

If you have never ran an Allstate Hot Chocolate Race, you are missing a great time and awesome swag! This race is well managed, with easy corral start with plenty of porta-potties available. This course starts and ends in downtown OKC, running through the Bricktown, and historic OKC. At the finish, you receive your medal and then a bowl of the best hot chocolate, bananas, and extra chocolate to dip! Stay around for the festivities and make a day of it!

"OKCMM "Run to Remember""

Race Management

The OKCMM race is held every year to "run to remember" the 168 adults and children that were killed during the Murrah building bombing in 1995. The entire community comes together to post pictures, memorabilia and stories of the fallen in the weeks leading up to the race. This race is well organized and plenty of crowd support along the route. Starting at the OKC Memorial, a 168-second moment of silence occurs before the National Anthem and start. Participants will run through downtown OKC, historic OKC, the Capital Building, up to Lake Hefner area, and finish around the Botanical Garden park area. At "Gorilla Hill" you will find people lining the streets with bananas and gorilla costumes. Afterward, stay around for a beer and party in the park!
