So as much as I love to do races in my own city, this one is a bit of a drag. It's not bad considering I got to roll out of bed to attend, but I really think Albuquerque could do better. The scenery is SO repetitive and boring- it's an out and back course on the Bosque Trail (which every other road race in ABQ is on) and it just gets so tiring. Albuquerque has cool neighborhoods and areas that this race could traverse, but instead they make the whole thing on this boring trail. Parking is kind of a mess in the morning. I enjoy any race, but this one could be better.

This is my absolute favorite race. It is the most beautiful, challenging, brutal course with the absolute BEST support crews and aid stations. The entire race takes place at over 9,000ft elevation and climbs to the summit of Mount Taylor. It is brutal but so worth it. The views on and up mount Taylor are unbeatable. So beautiful and so well-organized by Ken and Margaret Gordon. The best 50K race out there.

I run this race every year. It is on National Park service land so it is a lottery entry. They only let 400 people run it every year. It is an INSANE climb from the bottom of the Sandias to the Sandia Crest- about 6,000ft of gain! The first two miles are on the road up to the trailhead but the remainder is single-track trail climbing. It is so beautiful and SO well run. Run this race for sure if you're ever in Albuquerque but definitely do not skip elevation training.

I LOVED this race. The beginning is quite a climb near Ruidoso Grindstone lake, but the downhill running is so twisty and fun. The scenery is gorgeous high desert forest. The race organizers did a great job and I LOVED the medal- especially because it was wooden, made with bike gears, and they recycled the medals from the previous year when it had been canceled. I love that the race was not wasteful but resourceful. SO FUN!

My mom and I ran this half marathon this year and it was SUCH a blast! The expo was SO much fun, so well coordinated, full of awesome vendors. The racecourse was an absolute BLAST! So many people. We got to see all of Pittsburgh. The bridges to different boroughs were so much fun. I absolutely loved this race and cannot wait to do it again. The people cheering were the best part after the scenery. Amazing! Also shout out to the incredible human handing out medals who gave me mine even though I switched to the half last minute so that I could run the half with my mom. :)
