This was my second time to run this race and the course changed from the first time. We stayed close enough to the start that we could stay in the hotel room until it was time to run to the start and get in the coral. The first 6-7 miles was uphill. Everyone was freezing. My pace was right on track for me to get a sub 1:50 the entire way up the hills. I was stoked.

The finish was not anywhere near the start. Luckily our friend did not run but stayed with us at the hotel so she picked up or group of 3 runners when everyone finished.

The bands and aide stations were great. The crowds came out to support even in this horrific cold weather. The expo was fun with lots of freebies, discounted rates on good items and was very big.

I'd highly recommend this series but especially this location.

I ran this course in 2011 for my 30th birthday and decided to come back for my 31st too! I must say, if you're not used to the humidity to prepare your body for it. I was not and grew cold from the chills at mile 7. I quit sweating. I didn't know what was going on. This had never happened before. I definitely did not have enough electrolytes with me. Not all of the race has great views, but it is so fun. The houses are beautiful and finishing on the board walk is beautiful too! The bridge sucks (both going over and back) but that's the worst hill of the whole race so it's not horrible. The hotel we stayed in now longer exists. It's a parking lot now. That made me sad. It was a mom'n'pop motel and the owners were amazing and remembered us Texas girls from the year before. I'd definitely recommend this as a fun run over Labor Day weekend.

"Flat course, crappy roads"

I ran the relay in 2011 and wanted the full race this year. I enjoy the flat, fast course. I also enjoy people grilling and handing out FULL cans of beer so early in the morning. This makes for a fun run. The roads in parts of town were extremely crappy. I tripped, fell, and tore my IT band around mile 6. I kept moving b/c it hurt worse when I tried walk/running, and I wasn't going to get a DNF. Yes, I'm hard headed and don't make great decisions at times. Anyway, I finished in a decent time even with the injury. I did not like trying to get a taxi back to the hotel. It was a horrible ride. The start and finish were so far apart and we did not plan well. The taxi driver wasn't prepared for it either. This was the least favorite part of the race. The funniest part was seeing people who were absolutely wasted run 13.1 miles...they never quit from the night before, and I'm sure they were hurting for a week. But, they had fun!

This was my first time in NOLA & my first time running a relay. We really enjoyed the course, everyone out grilling and serving beer for the runners and bands. This is a super flat course (I ran the first part of the race). Some of the parts of town seemed a little sketchy. We totally missed getting our medals so we had to walk back about 3/4 of a mile and get them.

The expo was fun and who doesn't love visiting NOLA for a race?
