I was so excited to finally be able to run the Allstate Hot Chocolate race, as I’ve volunteered the previous 2 years.
The race was virtual, and I got to run the race in Houston!!
The best part was the swag of course! I LOVE the jacket & medal. My kids were so intrigued that the medal could hold a piece of chocolate. The hot chocolate packets were amazing. All in all I can’t wait to run this race in real life next year!

The race communication was great, and the swag was even better!
For me virtual races are made even better with the swag. The Pride Stride swag included a 1/2 zip pullover jacket, a bum bag, wrist sweat bands, a fan, & sunglasses all adorned with the Pride Stride logo.
I can’t wait to run this race in real life!

This is the first race I have ever run in Austin. This year I did the half and next year I’ll be doing the full.
The crowd support was amazing! If you’re not familiar there is a motto for Austin- Keep Austin Weird. There were people in costume dancing, live music, and very creative signs. Sometimes after a few races you see the same sign messages over and over but not in Austin.
The scenery was dope- I was able to get some cool pics at the start line was the state capital building is the background.
Post race was awesome- plenty of food and drink options.
The coolest thing about this race is the medal actually doubles as a belt buckle.

Hands down the best race in Houston! This is a mostly flat course with tons of spectator support.
The race provided plenty of support with email and access to free training guide, as well as running tips.
I was so happy with all the swag (2 shirts, medal, finisher glass, plus freebies).
The Chevron Houston marathon is a very well organized race- it didn’t disappoint.
This year my father-in-law reached Legacy status (running the race 10 years), which comes with additional swag. My goal is to also reach Legacy status.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The course and entertainment was very different from what was stated.
The course changed this year and if I wanted to just run through neighborhoods with no crowd support I could have done that on my own. The scenery was poor.
I was really looking forward to the Live entertainment but even that wasn’t as advertised. I was just so disappointed with this race.
Even the finisher an medal didn’t live up to the Rock-n-Roll series expectation. The shirt was way too big and looked cheap. The medal was tiny.
There was no post race meal just a few snacks (mandarin oranges, goldfish, granola bars) and full sized Gatorade.
I would not recommend this race - there’s so many other options.
