Despite the weather; it poured as we waiting in the corals to start the race and continued to rain throughout the race. The 10k route was along the water and very scenic, but I had expected more music. I’m guessing that the rain may have caused some groups not to play. My husband did the 1/2 and said it was great. He most enjoyed the mile of American flags. We will try again for better weather and another chance on the bands.

Very cool to run down Michigan Ave!!!!!! Lots of spectators along the race and it is always lovely to run along the waters of Lake Michigan. I wish there was more involved in the race and better security for the corals. No one was watching or caring if your bib matched your coral and I felt like so many people kept jumping in ahead of me.

The Sunburst is local for me, so I don’t have to stay overnight or spend money on a hotel room. If I did, this might not be the race I would sign up for. The course itself is nothing great, start by the baseball stadium run around some neighborhoods (the streets were kinda bad) pot holes etc., finishing at Notre Dame was cool, but my family had a hard time with transportation and viewing in stadium. After the race you take a bus back to your car and let’s just say the bus driver got lost! We had to give her directions and yell to stop or we would have made it to Michigan.
