I have run this race since it began in November, moved to the beach for Mother’s Day, and then back to Sawgrass. The course is surprising with so many hills. I know that surprised me the first time! However, the course marshals are very particular about their grass so runners are not allowed to run on it. It can be quite narrow. Beautiful scenery including some of the famous golf holes such as 17. The after party is awesome with good food, beautiful running ribbon medal, and lots of vendors. Swag includes a ticket to the Players. Next year, a must do!

A spring tradition in Jax FL. This year I was running in wave 3 with my son. Start of race without a hitch. Some areas are tight so you have to be patient. Lots of course entertainment and aid stations. Locals come out and also offer aid and encouragement to runners. Heat can be an issue but lots of water and even ice at aid stations. Hardest part is the Hart Bridge but gravity pulls you along. Medal is great! Awesome experience once again. Plenty of race options for everyone! There is a 5k and 1 mile too.

I had the honor of pacing the 5:30 Galloway pace group this year. We ran 30/30. We started at the Neptune Beach Towncenter and ran towards Sailfish in Atlantic Beach towards Selva Marina and Oceanwalk. The course support was the best ever! The weather was perfect-no rain but overcast. Lots of aid stations with all sorts of delicacies for runners or onlookers. A wonderful block party. Once the half marathoners finished, it thinned out as we headed towards Jax Beach and Ponte Vedra, but we still had plenty of people cheering us on. No crazy elevation and no bridges so it was flat and fast! The best part-26.3 was waiting for us ready to feed and hydrate us! Awesome race, never disappoints.

One of my favorite warm up races for the Gate River Run. This race has been around for about 35+ years. It’s a fundraiser for the St Mark’s School. It’s also a Grand Prix race. The race winds through the beautiful Ortega neighborhoods and the infamous Roosevelt Blvd bridge. Hilly and challenging with good crowd support. It starts and ends at St Mark’s and then runners are treated to a community fair with vendors and lots of free post race treats. The medal was really cool this year with the Ortega bridge rigged to go up and down. A definite must do!
