I've heard many great things about this race. It is known as the "Toughest Half in Texas". Overall the difficulty level is there due to the elevation in Cameron Park. Since I live in Waco, I was able to run on the actual course and properly prepare for the run. However, once you pass that everything is else is pretty flat. When it comes to swag and expo this race was disappointing. There was no Expo and I was expecting one because after all which race does not host an Expo, especially when an institution like Baylor University host one. The swag was alright, too. Again, I expected more because of the institution that was hosting the event. However, I was happy to see that they gave every participant a $5 gift card from Tiff's Treats.

The race overall was great. However, there could be some tweaks here and there. I can almost bet my life the Race Director is not a runner. The race did not start on time either which was a disappointment.

Overall the race was great! I had two favorite parts when it comes to the course. The first part was the blue mile which honored fallen Soldiers of all branches of the military. My second favorite part was the various groups of Mariachi players on the course. San Antonio has a huge influence in Mexican culture and to see this incorporated on the course was amazing!

This was my very first 1/2 Marathon and I was not disappointed! The scenery and the culture of San Juan, PR was amazing! There are many adventurous things to do in San Juan. I'm saddened to see the event was canceled after Hurricane Maria destroyed the island. However, I'm hopeful that PR will bounce back and have this great event once again!
